In Northern climates, the best time to overseed your lawn is during the fall, when the soil is still warm but the air is cooler, and there are fewer weeds to compete against. Mow low, dethatch, and overseed
In order to prepare your lawn for an effective overseeding and provide the best lawn care possible, you’ll need to mow lower than usual, to the point here the grass sits right above the soil line.
